He will be performing his original tunes from his releases in the past three years including pieces from his recently released album ‘Ruby’ for the first time live in Toronto at Tribute Communities Recital Hall, Accolade East Building, York University on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 6 PM . This is an original solo piano performance.

This is a solo piano performance by Kaman, the composer and pianist. He will be performing his original work including tunes such as 'Walk', 'Nostalgia' and 'Ruby' for the first time in Toronto!

This October, the NICK MACLEAN QUARTET feat. BROWNMAN ALI celebrates the release of their hotly anticipated sophomore album CONVERGENCE. Led by fast-rising piano star NICK MACLEAN -- a 10x Global Music Award winner and one of the most in-demand young jazz piano players in Toronto -- this contemplative yet thrilling quartet delivers jazz between the two poles of thoughtful introspection and powerhouse conveyance, taking influences from Herbie Hancock's primordial 1960's Blue Note era recordings. Maclean's quartet heavily features one of Canada's most provocative improvising trumpet players -- BROWNMAN ALI -- an internationally acclaimed, multi-award winning jazz iconoclast who has been heralded as "Canada's preeminent jazz trumpet player" by New York City's Village Voice and is best known globally as the last trumpet player to play in the legendary jazz-hip-hop group GURU's JAZZMATAZZ. We invite you to j﻿oin us for a special exploration of musical mantras (kirtan) at The Yoga House on Sunday, October 22, 2023 from 3:15pm to 5:30pm.  The venue is a pleasant 10-15 minute walk from either Coxwell or Woodbine stations.  The kirtan will be presented at the conclusion of an all-day yoga retreat and we are opening just 20 spaces to attend the kirtan at the end of the day.  

Kirtan is a call-and-response form of musical mantra meditation.  It has the power to tap into deep states of consciousness and yet it can also invoke exciting feelings of joy and energy!  At a typical kirtan event, a group of chanters lead the crowd in multiple musical mantra sessions.

The Untitled Ensemble

The Untitled Ensemble was formed in 2020, right before the Covid pandemic hit, and it was formed with 2 goals:

1) To play music by women and other historically marginalized groups composing in the western classical chamber music genre.

2) To create new and fluid groups of musicians to match the repertoire of each show, creating a meeting place and a resource for musicians who want to play chamber music to learn from each other, and explore new and interesting music!

Our goal is to foster collaboration and create new ensembles who may or may not continue to exist beyond their beginnings within the Untitled Ensemble while using our multi-instrumental nature to perform a wider range of repertoire than we would be able to otherwise!

Performer Bios:

Considered one of Toronto’s most popular DJs, Jason Palma has pushed the groove via his weekly radio show ‘Higher Ground’ on CIUT. Beyond playing countless parties across the city, Palma has held a decades-long monthly residency ‘Footprints.’

Kiki LeFreak is an established force in Toronto's queer community and underground house scene. Since her start hosting the legendary queer party Juicy in 2003, she has built inclusive bouncing rooms across the city, animating many venues, launching legendary events (Sticky Fingers, Monster, Shango, Hipnosis, A Love Bizarre) and sharing the stage with industry greats (Dj Greg Wilson, Marcellus Pittman, Osunlade, Alton Miller, Eddie C, Peter Croce, Dj Holographic, Fred Everything and most recently Mark Farina).

Iced Misto is a formidable mixologist of all genres who has a knack for effortlessly fusing in gems as well as never mixing the same way twice. She’s also known in the street dance world wearing several hats as an organizer, advisor, dj, and dancer not to mention that she is an accomplished graphic artist and web developer.

DJ/Promoter DJ YOGI and his company United Soul has been a leading curator in Toronto's House Music community for over 2 decades. His journey started as a member of the highly respected DJ collective the Groove Institute. DJ YOGi's sets showcase his love for global rhythms and Solid Garage. He has appeared at WMC, Mi Casa Su Casa, BPM Festival, The Tribe Tambor Boat Cruise & The Chosen Few Picnic.

A concert promoter, musician & DJ, Jay NuFunk is known for playing disco-funk, party breaks, and soulful-house between sets at live concerts. He is the founder of Groovin' in the Park, NuFunk Concerts, co-Founder of Brooklyn’s No Wahala DJs and Toronto's Make it Funky Collective

Always entertaining and definitely unique, The Mudmen are a blast of Celtic energy whose members are known to be characters both on and off the stage. First discovered in 1993 as "the Campbell Brothers" the band signed a deal with EMI Records and changed their name to Mudmen. Their music has been featured on Xbox and PlayStation games, NBC'S television show "The Black Donnelly's", WWE Wrestling, HBO's Shameless, Don Cherry's 9,19,20,21,24,27 hockey videos, the Mackenzie Brothers TWO-FOUR special special, HNIC Coach's corner ( Dale Hunter tribute), Oil Change 3 hockey Tv series ,6 music videos on Much Music/MTV and they've reached the top 20 on the Edge radio countdown. In 2008 The Campbell Brothers were asked to perform on the new " Hockey Night In Canada " theme song produced by Canadian Rock Icon Bob Rock, which was the HNIC official theme song from 2008-2015. Their performance on the CBC HNIC lead to many opportunities including a 3 month coast to coast Sold Out tour, PBS special /DVD and a performance at the Canadian Country Music Awards with Johnny Reid. The Mudmen have appeared twice on Parliament Hill for Canada Day where they performed and shook hands with the Queen televised, performed at the Edmonton Oilers/Calgary Flames home opening ceremonies on CBC, performed at the Edmonton Oilers 84 Stanley Cup Championship win re-union with Wayne Gretzky, Sarah McLaughlin, Red Ryder and full team present. The Mudmen Robby Campbell, Sandy Campbell, Colin Amey, Troy Spinney, Andy Gingerich & Alex Showdra believe that nice guys can finish first, while enjoying life & what you do translates to all audiences. The Mudmen are building a legion of fans from young to old with career highlights such as 12 Canada Walk of Fame Ceremonies, The Maple Leaf/Boston Bruins game at the Air Canada Center , opening performances for ZZ Top, the Guess who, The Irish Rovers, The Chieftains, April Wine , over 40 cross Canada headlining tours, festival dates in America, Europe, Canada and a performance for TSN'S "for the Love of The Game Ceremony" . This televised ceremony was for the men's & ladies Olympic hockey team where the Canadian hockey players where they've received their Gold Ring with Sidney Crosby and Full team present. The Mudmen have performed over 3000 shows to date recorded 11 studio recordings and are celebrating their 25th anniversary this year.
