Looking for something to do this Thanksgiving with the family? For those north of the City, PumpkinFest Richmond Hill offers tons of family entertainment and memory-making photo ops. PumpkinFest RH returns to the Richmond Green Sports Centre (1300 Elgin Mills Rd East) from October 8 to 10, 2022.

The family-friendly event features lots of outdoor fun for people of all ages including rides, inflatables, food, the Pumpkin Express Train, pumpkin bowling, an arts and crafts area, costume contest, photo ops, stage shows, pumpkin patch, face painting and of course fun games. Admission is $25 per person in advance online or $30 at the gate. Children under two years old are free (admission only, no rides). Food, merchant vendors, games, rock wall climbing and pony rides are an extra charge.

Selecting a pumpkin is great family fun for generations of family members. They gather in the patch to choose a pumpkin, make memories and find some fantastic photo ops.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar, by author/illustrator Eric Carle has delighted generations of readers since it was first published in 1969 selling more than 43 million copies worldwide. Created by Jonathan Rockefeller, this critically acclaimed production features a menagerie of 75 lovable and larger-than-life puppets, faithfully adapting four of Eric Carle's stories!  Now, the timeless classic has made its way off the page and onto the stage!

Each nature-themed session will get you exploring the natural world that makes Downsview Park unique.

Here’s what to expect: 

- Each program is 90 minutes
- All ages are welcome but those under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult
- Activities will be flexible and reflective of the participants’ interests
- Nature Connection runs every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month from 2:00 to 3:30 pm, unless otherwise noted
- Pets are not permitted at this program. Service animals are always welcome.

September 25, 2022 - Fall Food (Fresh City Tour/Orchard Tour)
Fall is a wonderful time to enjoy the fruits (and veggies) of our summer growing season. We will go on a mini-fall nature walk that will end with a visit to the Park’s Orchard and Fresh City Farms.

October 9, 2022 - Fall Bird Walk
Let’s celebrate the fall migration season with a walk through the Park’s forests and meadows.

October 23, 2022 - Forest Play
Costumes are welcome during this afternoon of loose part forest play.

November 13, 2022 - Fall Colours and Forest Games
Enjoy the forest’s fall colours from the Park’s mounds and hills. Our nature walk will also include a couple of forest games.

November 27, 2022 - Geocaching
Ready for a treasure hunt? Join us in learning about geocaching at Downsview Park and bring your own trinket to hide in the park! A container and logbook will be provided for your trinket. A mobile GPS device (i.e. smartphone) is helpful but not required for this program. Please download the Geocaching app for Android or Apple prior to the program to get started!

Stay warm by the fire as we welcome the last days of Fall.

December 18, 2022 - Winter Bird Count for Kids
Join Downsview Park staff for our annual Winter Bird Count for Kids. This kid-friendly, citizen science project will introduce participants to some birding basics and help scientists around the world monitor wild bird populations. Binoculars from home are welcomed but not required and please remember to dress for an outdoor adventure.


Join us for a FREE outdoor program! This program is family-friendly and suitable for all ages.

September 12 – Orchard Adventure: Fruit trees and buzzing bees! Join us as we explore the south end of the Park and all the delicious spaces around it.

September 19 – Nature Play: Imagination, exploration and fun are at the heart of this free play program. We will be combining natural and human-made loose parts to create an exciting forest adventure.

October 17 – Nature Play: Imagination, exploration and fun are at the heart of this free play program. We will be combining natural and human-made loose parts to create an exciting forest adventure.   

October 31 – Spooky Forest fun - We are celebrating Halloween with a spooky extravaganza. Wear your Halloween costume and join us for some creepy crawler outdoor activities.

November 14 – Fall frolic - Fall is coming to an end and it is time to get outdoors for a forest frolic. Explore seasonal change in this late autumn activity. 

November 28 – Nature Play: Imagination, exploration and fun are at the heart of this free play program. We will be combining natural and human-made loose parts to create an exciting forest adventure.
