Trying something for the first time when you need it to save your life is never a good idea. This entry level course is designed for students who want a solid foundation in basic survival  and bushcraft skills. This course not only provides hands on instruction in potentially lifesaving wilderness survival skills but concepts that are useful in the event of a natural disaster as well. During this course students gain the knowledge and experience to meet basic survival challenges.   During this entry level course students will learn several survival shelters, both primitive and modern, and how to construct them.   Topics covered • Fire - Several modern and primitive methods including Ferro rods and bowdrill. • Shelter - 5 minute shelters, modern and primitive shelter construction • Water - Locating and purifying with multiple methods • Food - Traps and Wild Edibles • Rescue - Signaling and Pocket Survival Kit (PSK) design • Cordage - Making and using cordage from natural fibers  This three day course will show you what to take into the wilderness with you and what to do if you find yourself without it.  This is a three day course. Tent and hammock camping is available and students are encouraged to bring any gear they would like to use or try out. Porta potties, fire rings and firewood are on site. Most cel carriers have good reception. There is no electric or gas.  Additional Info for Basic Survival and Bushcraft The following items are suggested for use in training • Metal Water bottle or canteen • Metal nesting cup for bottle or canteen • Lighter and a Ferro Rod  • Sharp knife • At least 50' paracord or bankline • 5x7 or 6x8 tarp or heavy "Space Blanket" • Large heavy duty contractor garbage bag • 2 Cotton Bandannas (One will get cut up) • Regular size can of heat and eat food • P-38  can opener  Metal bottles, Mora Knives, Ferro Rods, P-38 can openers are available on site or on our website along with many other useful items.

The Church Studio is hallowed ground and the epicenter of the Tulsa Sound. Visitors will enjoy being greeted by a full-sized bronze sculpture of Leon Russell before entering the gallery.

The Church Studio features a comprehensive collection of Leon artifacts and memorabilia including the only known self-portrait. Various displays and exhibits show the historical significance of The Church Studio while celebrating today's music industry.

Unlike any other historic studio "museums," The Church Studio is a real-world working recording studio that boasts top-of-the-line analog and digital gear. Don't be surprised if you get to peek into an actual recording session.
