BIG BANG has already enchanted audiences across Europe, Canada, and Brazil. Now, it’s Vancouver’s turn to host this one-of-a-kind event: an unforgettable day of musical adventure for young audiences. For the first edition in Vancouver, Music on Main brings together local artists and international performers for a day filled with unique sounds and creativity.

Ages 5 and up can join in with free and ticketed concerts, hands-on activities, and more. With bouncing rhythms and colourful scores, the festival will fill The Roundhouse on Family Day with sounds and celebration!

“I admit, I literally understand nothing of this,” Werner Herzog intones inimitably midway through his investigation into the mysteries of the mind. “But I find it fascinating.” Indeed. Herzog’s left field questions tend to leave brain surgeons and neuroscientists scratching their heads: “Do fish think? Do we dance in our head? Do mice suspend disbelief? How stupid is Siri?” (Spoiler: Very stupid.) Theater of Thought will bemuse anyone looking for a coherent intellectual through-line, but will amuse the rest of us: it’s a quizzical, curious comedy about poetry and science, philosophy and quantum physics.

Werner Herzog investigates the human mind in this free-associative philosophical comedy about a mad filmmaker interrogating some of the most brilliant minds in science.

Theater of Thought

Directed by multiple Goya award winner and Emmy nominee José Luis Lopez-Linares, this lip-smacking tour of Spain’s best known wine region dives into the push and pull between tradition and innovation in an industry that is led by family dynasties. The land itself is delicious to behold, sun-dappled villages and vineyards skirting the winding River Ebro. We hear from big, famous brands and artisan wineries, historians, cultural representatives and award-winning oenologists. We learn about the evolution of Rioja wines, the impact of technology, climate, experimentation and experience. And then we come out and enjoy another glass…

 

Sunday’s screening will be followed by a guided wine tasting led by Pablo Sanz, from Meditaste, who will be presenting wines from Bodegas Olarra, a winery in Logrono, La Rioja, the heart of the province and appellation.

North Shore Brain Injury returns face-to-face NSBI brain recovery support group meetings to Lions Gate Hospital the first Tuesday of every month starting in January.

North Shore Brain Injury, formerly operated by the Vancouver Brain Injury Association (VBIA) , returns to the North Shore as a new BC Society.  

The first North Shore Brain Recovery Support Group meeting is January 7, 2025 at Lions Gate Hospital. Join us for conversation and refreshments in a friendly safe environment.

PURPOSES

The purposes of the North Shore Brain Injury Society are:

A) to promote health by providing direct services to persons with acquired Brain Injury, and their caregivers, including access to related counseling, information, or support group programs. 

B) to advance education by creating and/ or distributing educational materials and organizing and participating in seminars, counseling, and speaking engagements to the public on topics related to Brain Injury.

C) to undertake activities ancillary and incidental to the attainment of the above.

MISSION

North Shore Brain Injury Society mission is to provide North Shore Brain Injury survivors with recovery programs and to connect Brain Injury survivors, their families, and caregivers to resources in the community.

SERVICES

NS Brain Injury is here to support recovery with:

– Case management
– Help with Worksafe BC
– Assistance with Social Service
– Referrals to others resources

GOAL

Our goal is simple. We help residents of the North Shore with a brain injury recover to lead safe, healthy lives with full inclusion in the community.

NSBIS encourages local schools, social agencies, libraries, community groups, and volunteers to partner with us in order to help build a healthier, happier, British Columbia.

FOUNDER

Richard Wagar, the former Director of Brain Recovery at the Vancouver Brain Injury Association (VBIA) registered the North Shore Brain Injury Society under the BC Societies Act in September.

VBIA, which closed in 2022, formerly operated North Shore Brain Injury. North Shore Brain Injury Society will resume North Shore Brain Recovery Support Group meetings on January 7, 2025. North Shore Brain Recovery Support Group meetings will continue on the first Tuesday of every month at Lions Gate Hospital.
