Clare Palmer and Anne McCarthy use photography as a starting point for a fresh perspective on everyday life.  This unusual mix of street photography and digital art encourages viewers to reconsider what they see through humor, irony, and unexpected details.   
Victoria’s one and only Gage Gallery Arts Collective is excited to present Crikey!, a bold new photo-based show featuring original works by Gage members Clare Palmer and Anne McCarthy.   
  
This is the first time these two artists are exhibiting together.  As the only two photography - based artists at the Gage, they have found that their work complements each other and enhances creative exploration.  Crikey! developed from Clare and Anne walking and talking through the streets of Victoria with their cameras.  
 
Each artist brings her unique perspective to the exhibition. 
 
Clare Palmer mainly works in street photography and mixed media. She loves to look up and around as she walks; capturing unexpected textures and zeroing in on oddities. Her photography has minimal editing, so the rawness stands out.   
 
Clare says, “I’m inspired by the street, the natural world and my life experiences.  My goal is to invite you, the viewer, to enter the image and explore it with me.” 
 
Anne McCarthy's digital works incorporate her own photography into digital art using Photoshop. This is a continuation of work done in the late 70’s when she used non-silver photographic methods and acrylic paint. She works primarily with Adobe digital tools.

Friends and neighbours come together bringing family members and friends, lawn chairs and dancing shoes  to spend a lovely summer evening listening and swing dancing to tunes from the 20s, to 50s performed by professional jazz musicians who practice in New Westminster.

The fifth annual Jazz Night in the West End features BC jazz quartet, Hamilton Street Swing, playing two hour-long sets of traditional jazz in a free, outdoor concert for neighbours and friends.

TK is a dynamic Afrosoul/Jazz fusion artist who blends an amalgamation of sister genres – Neosoul, Gospel, R&B, Jazz, & Afrobeats, to create a captivating musical performance for listeners. 

Hailing from Nigeria, TK is deeply connected to rhythm and simultaneously sings and plays the drums on stage, to create a unique live feel. 

Joining him on stage are four incredible musicians, Alvin Mwanicky on Guitar, Daniel Sarmiento on Bass, Ill Sash on Keys, and Rowan Farintosh on the Saxophone. 


The band’s collective sound derives inspiration from the soul-stirring melodies of neo-soul, the infectious rhythms in modern Hip Hop and Afrobeats, and the uplifting energy of Jazz – sounds from all over the world that create a smooth, silky, and groovy experience for listeners.

On August 9th at 611 Alexander St. the heart of Vancouver’s Railtown district will come alive bringing music lovers, foodies, families and creatives together for one of the biggest and most exciting events yet - Railtown Rooftop Party Featuring The Summerlight Stage. This free, all-day, outdoor music festival serves to spotlight some of the most enticing indie, alternative and genre-blending artists from across Canada. 

The thrilling Summerlight Stage lineup will include psychedelic surf-rock favourites Surf Hat as the event headliner with support from rising BC artists Mitch Zorn, Sleepy Gonzales, Hayley Wallis and Ontario’s Ash Molloy. Rounding out the evening will be the winner of Beatdapp’s Emerging Artist of 2025, to be announced soon.
