Gilbert & Sullivan's Ruddigore
- Sun at 3:00PM - 5:15PM
- 113 East Mifflin Street
- $15.00 - $30.00
Gilbert & Sullivan's wicked-funny wit and exhilarating music fill this operetta of Ruddigore. Musicians, singers and dancers perform this rarely produced, hilarious tale of madcap macabre.
The Madison Savoyards return to the live stage with Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Ruddigore, or The Witch’s Curse.” A long time ago, a persecuted witch placed a curse on the Baronet of Ruddigore, whereby he and each of his descendants must commit a crime each day, or die in agony. Witches, curses, ghosts, secret identities, romance and knavery are spun into a tale of madcap macabre! This is a rare opportunity to see this seldom-produced comic opera which features some of Sir Arthur Sullivan’s most superb music, and W. S. Gilbert’s wit at its sharpest. Performances will be held at the Bartell Theatre, 113 E. Mifflin Street in Madison, off the square. Evening performances are on August 5, 6, 12, and 13 at 7:30pm; and August 7 and 14 at 3:00pm.
