Inspired by the work of Friends of Rookery Bay and their mission, students at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) created original photographs and sculptures. These artists were enrolled in either the History of Photography course (taught by Professor Hannah Harley) and Sculpture II course (taught by Professor Steve Hughart).  The student artists found their inspiration through different plant life, birds, reptiles, ecosystems and landscapes throughout the Southwest Florida region.

St. Petersburg-based artist Mike Massaro is a sculptor and mixed media installation artist who transforms everyday construction materials and found objects. His solo sculptural installation, "LOSS," explores the emotional layers of loss through abstract representation. Viewers can navigate the physical pieces and nuanced lighting, creating a contemplative space to reflect on their own experiences.

Celebrate the opening of this new exhibition with music and a food truck on our beautiful National Historic Landmark campus!

This exhibit showcases hundreds of artworks featuring animals from ancient times to today, exploring how people have used animal images in art for various reasons, including symbolism, culture, ceremonies, and decoration. It includes images of insects, fish, birds, and mammals, highlighting their roles in power, virtue, decoration, and myth.

The exhibition also draws attention to the scope of the Wellin Museum’s collection. Selections include objects from ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome; Mesoamerican and Andean artifacts; artworks from Medieval,  Renaissance, and 19th century Europe; prints, drawings, and textiles from East Asia; Persian illuminated manuscripts; and global modern and contemporary art.

Menagerie encourages viewers to consider the scope, meaning, and value of their interactions with animals, and, most importantly, to recognize their implicit interdependence. While the exhibition primarily focuses on nonhuman creatures, every object on view is the result of human creative effort and the depiction of each animal is filtered through its maker’s consciousness.

The objects in Menagerie reveal the complex, and sometimes volatile, interconnection between animals and humans. Moreover, some of these artworks illustrate the considerable stress humans have placed on our shared ecosystem. In examining the enduring bond between people and animals, Menagerie not only provides an avenue for imagining a sustainable future, but one in which humans and the natural world might find balance.

Palace of Machinery is a haunting multi-screen video & sound installation that reanimates archival films made inside Pittsburgh’s Westinghouse factories. Projected at the 1904 World’s Fair, the spectacle of orchestrated labor offered a vision of progress at an uncertain time. Sounding a disorienting echo of these turn-of-the-century dreams, the immersive installation evokes past in present and questions our own modern “palaces.”

The show is a 30-minute experience from start to finish. Visitors are invited in on half-hour cycles, and may move around—getting close to the films or sitting in the middle of the space to immerse themselves in 100' of wall-to-wall projections and bathe in the vast soundscape.

Written by Luis Santeiro, Our Lady of the Tortilla features the Cruz family, that is "volatile even in the best of times." On this particular day, Nelson, the youngest son, enters the house in a panic to hid the more obvious religious relics from the sight of his "gringo" girlfriend, who is visiting for the weekend Nelson's mother, Dahlia, is obsessed with retrieving her husband from his new girlfriend; Eddie her elder son, shows up in a van with his failed life and pregnant girlfriend. But the "real" pandemonium is caused by sweet, long-suffering Dolores, Dahlia's old-maid sister, when she sees the face of the Holy Virgin in a tortilla. This miracle brings hordes of believers and reporters to camp out on the Cruz's lawn to await future miracles. As the family struggles with beliefs and conflicts, old and new, the endurance of family love is revealed to be the real miracle. 

Our Lady of the Tortilla is approximately two hours long, with a 15-20 minute intermission

The Worcester Youth Orchestras (WYO) is central Massachusetts’ largest and premier youth orchestra program. It is comprised of four orchestras, a jazz program, wind ensemble and chamber music program. Auditions are being held for the 2025-2026 season which starts in September 2025. Admission is open to all students grades 12 and under who play a string, wind, brass, percussion or harp/keyboard.

In residence at Mechanics Hall, the organization presents multiple concerts at Mechanics as well as around Worcester County. Drawing from more than 60 communities and schools, the Worcester Youth Orchestras is Central Massachusetts' premiere youth orchestra program representing the finest talent in the area. Students enjoy weekly rehearsals, coachings and masterful performances under the direction of talented conductors and teaching artists.

17th-century London roars to life in this convivial program of tunes for the tavern including jovial drinking songs, love ballads both naughty and nice, and rustic catches for carousing with friends.

We imagine an evening in good company at the tavern, by the fireplace, with a favorite beverage in hand. We share tales of pickpockets and punks, wise maids and goodfellows, the wonders of tobacco, the pitfalls of gambling, and the delights of good ale. Between toasts, we contemplate the meaning of life and reflect on unrequited love. Rounding out the evening’s merriment are works by Wilbye, Ravenscroft, and Sumarte, along with our original settings of lively country dances. In this spirit of cheerful musical camaraderie, our program celebrates the joys of gathering with friends.

The State Ballet Theatre of Ukraine presents Swan Lake. Experience the most famous love story of all time!

Swan Lake, on its North American Tour in 2024-25. With new stage production, the classical score by Tchaikovsky comes to life. The State Ballet Theater of Ukraine premiered this new interpretation of the timeless classic to a full house in Ukraine on September 26-27, 2020. The ballet's choreography and design took many months to complete. Fortunately, it's now ready to tour in the USA and Canada from November 2024 to May 2025.

"This is a story for all ages. If you believe in a dream, the dream can come true!" says Tour Producer Michael Art. "Swan Lake has wonderful music - it's complex, philosophical, with love and tragedy. It has become one of the most striking ballets in our repertoire."

The performance features a ballet troupe of 50 dancers, and more than 200 new costumes were created specifically for this production. "When creating Swan Lake, we wanted to give the audience an unforgettable experience, immerse them in a fairy tale, and help them believe in miracles." Therefore, the costumes, scenery, and props turned out to be very bright and colorful. "Our main task is for the audience to get drunk on this amazing performance and want to come to the theater again. We are confident that the performance will interest audiences of all ages. After all, we all need a real fairy tale in our lives!"

Ballet in Two Acts with 1 Intermission. The show is family-friendly and suitable for ages 3 and up.

Presented by the American Indian College Fund, this immersive evening invites guests to explore the intersection of tradition and creativity, with 100 percent of proceeds supporting scholarships for Native students.

Enjoy a curated full-course meal by acclaimed Indigenous chefs, including Chef Loretta Barrett Oden (Citizen Potawatomi Nation), Chef Anthony Bauer (Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa), Chef Nathan Davis (Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa), and Chef Andrea Condes (Andean chef). Their culinary artistry blends ancestral ingredients with contemporary techniques, honoring heritage while looking forward.

The evening also features an intimate performance by singer-songwriter Raye Zaragoza, as well as a traditional dance showcase by the Redhawk Native American Arts Council.

Spring brings new life to the farm! Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm welcomes visitors of all ages to join in celebrating the season. This special event, held on May 17th, 18th, 24th & 25th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, features a delightful opportunity to meet our newborn lambs, goat kids, piglets, chicks, ducklings, and bunnies as you explore this authentic nineteenth-century farm. Throughout the farm grounds, Interpreters in period costumes showcase the farm life of yesteryears. The gardens are prepared for planting and visitors can purchase starter plants to inspire your own gardening endeavors at home. Experience a wool production exhibit, including traditional Spring Sheep Shearing on Saturday, May 17th followed by a “sheep to shawl” demo. On the following weekend, May 24th and 25th, the 142nd Pennsylvania Volunteers Civil War Encampment comes to the farm. Engage with reenactors while learning about camp life. On both weekends, Spring Plant Sale, Timeless Treasures sale and our gift shop, offer a wide array of hand crafted items, gifts, and vintage items. Food and drinks will be available on-site. Tickets can be purchased at the gate, priced at $18 for adults, $10 for ages 3-12, and free admission for kids under 3.

Funhouse Comedy Club, which already runs successful nights at numerous venues across the country, is excited to announce the launch of a brand new comedy night at The Bowood Hotel, Calne on Friday May 16th.

Funhouse clubs are renowned for having exceptionally friendly audiences and a brilliant atmosphere, which have led to twice winning Best Midlands Comedy Club awards with leading comedy website Chortle. Previous acts to have played its clubs on their road to the top include Sarah Millican, Joe Lycett, James Acaster and Rhod Gilbert, who described the clubs as “among the best anywhere in the world.”

Topping the bill is the fantastic El Baldiniho, who appeared on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, with his mind-bogglingly daft magic and likeable stage persona he mesmerizes the audience.

Opening the night will be Jules O’Brian, shortlisted for Funny Women 2021, she enjoys telling anyone who will listen about ageing disgracefully, body hang-ups, parenting, and dating all done with a twinkle in her eye.

Compere for the night is the very funny and highly talented Patrick Draper, who you may recognise from the Wickes adverts, he took the comedy world by storm after winning a string of new act competitions, with his deadpan delivery, witty one-liners, killer punch lines and ridiculous short stories.
